GoSign.AI 2024 Year in Review

GoSign.AI started in 2023 with a singular focus: to find ways to scale sign language data collection at unprecedented cost efficiency. In 2024, we've not only validated our gamified approach but began scaling it significantly while building out our commercial pipeline. None of this would have been possible without our incredible gamers and community support - you've been the driving force behind our success.

2024 Growth Milestones 🚀

  • 👥 1,428 new players joined with a total of 2,851 sign language gamers since our launch in 2023.

  • 🙌 286,945 new signs collected with almost half a million signs total since our launch in 2023.

  • 🤖 207,513 AI chatbot conversations with over half a million conversations since our launch in 2023.

Global Language Coverage 🌏

Our mobile app support 19 sign languages, with completed Ambassador Programs for American Sign Language, Indo-Pakistani Sign Language, and Nepalese Sign Language.

In 2025, we're pausing new language additions to focus on data quality and linguistic accuracy across our existing languages, including Auslan, British, German, French, Quebec, Japanese, Brazilian, Italian, Mexican, Saudi Arabian, Romanian, Filipino, Russian, Indonesian, Irish, and Thai Sign Languages.

Leadership in AI Safety & Accessibility 🛡️

As proud members of the Coalition for Sign Language Equity in Technology (CoSET), we are providing input on the future of AI-powered sign language interpreting—emphasizing the importance of robust regulations and oversight to ensure equitable, ethical, and accurate services for Deaf and signing communities.

Throughout the year, we've engaged with accessibility technology leaders worldwide, learning about their data needs and exploring how we can collectively serve their missions while staying true to GoSign's core values.

Our voice was heard at important industry events, including:

  • Language Access Advisory Board of the Colorado General Assembly

  • NextGen Accessibility Summit

  • National Association of the Deaf’s 57th Biennial Conference in Chicago

  • ACCESS 2024

  • Inaugural Symposium on AI and Sign Language Interpreting, Brown University

Technical Innovation & Future Development 🔧

Our technical roadmap advances three initiatives while respecting industry specialization:

  1. Sign Language Recognition (SLR) development focuses purely on improving data collection and cleaning processes.

  2. Avatar technology integrates 3D tools and generative AI specifically to enhance gaming engagement through sign-based customization.

  3. Generative AI service helps companies transform digital assets while building internal capabilities to become more effective storytellers.

We deliberately avoid developing communication tools, leaving that critical work to specialized organizations focused on deaf accessibility. Instead, our developments target data quality improvements and enriched gaming experiences, empowering deaf-friendly organizations with complementary tools that align with their existing workflows.

Looking Ahead to 2025 🎯

Our vision for 2025 focuses on sustainable growth and expanded impact:

  • Scaling annotation through improved user onboarding, gamification features, and a new language ambassador backend portal.

  • Enhanced AI features with RunwayML API and gamification methodologies such as streak system, replacing cash prizes with points system and more.

  • 12-month targeted language ambassador program with rotating country focus and prize pools

  • Increased outreach and grant seeking to support our volunteer team.

Thank You 💝

To our community, partners, and supporters - thank you for helping ensure companies like OpenAI can access quality datasets that benefit the global deaf community. Happy Holidays and see you in 2025! 🎊
